Player Names: An explanation

PLAYER NAMES

fevstats runs a database that includes all players for the full-time and part-time professional clubs.

In order to be able to process the data for any particular player it is important that the name of the player is consistent throughout the database.

This leads to a problem when a player chooses to change his name. Although everyone has a right to do so we have to stick to the firstname that was entered in the database or stats will treat it as two different players!

One such example is Brad Knowles. When he first played it was under the name of Bradley Tagg so you will find that, despite the fact that he has changed his name, he is to be found in this blog under the original name: Bradley Tagg.

Occasionally, a player is listed with a number in brackets between his first name and surname. This is done when there has been more than one player with the same name. An example is 'Chris Smith'. The database contains four different players called Chris Smith! They are referred to as 'Chris Smith', Chris{2} Smith, Chris{3} Smith and  Chris{4} Smith.
