Hunslet Club Parkside
You might have thought that Featherstone Rovers have never previously played against Hunslet Club Parkside, and technically that is true. BUT - as is the way with clubs, over the years there have been changes in the community clubs in the Hunslet area, clubs have come and gone and there have also been mergers with two or more clubs coming together. Hunslet Club Parkside is the result of a merger and one of the constituent clubs was Hunslet Old Boys who Fev played in the 3rd round of the Challenge Cup in 2012.
Of course there have been huge changes in the fortunes of both clubs since then. At that time Hunslet Old Boys were a not particularly successful community club (it was before they joined the National Conference) and Rovers were the reigning champions of the Championship and half way through their achievement of finishing top of the league for four years in a row.
It was a match in which Liam Finn scored 34 points and equalled the club record by kicking 13 goals. The 86 point haul by Fev was not a record (that had been set in 2004 when Rovers put 96 on Castleford Lock Lane, also in the Challenge Cup 3rd round). It is the joint 5th highest score by a Fev team and we haven't scored as many since that match.
James Lockwood is the only Rovers player who has been at Fev continuously since 2012 although Jack Bussey has, of course, returned this year. On the Hunslet Old Boys side we know of three who played that day who are currently with Hunslet Club Parkside - Kieron Murphy, Jamie Bradley and Jamie Fields.
