Just for fun we decided to
look at the most common surnames of Fev players through our history since 1921.
It is no surprise that the
commonest of all was Smith with 16 of them.
Two surnames appear 11
times: Johnson and Ward
Three surnames appear 10
times: Barraclough, Jones and Morgan.
Two of those on the lists (Frank
Ward and Len Barraclough) sit very close to fevnut in the main stand at home
games.
You will notice that the
first player on the list has no forename. We believe that he was a wartime ‘guest’
player and it is incredibly difficult to find details of those. There are also
a three ‘Smiths’ for whom we only have initials.
There are two pairs of
players (George Johnson and Peter Johnson) with identical names so we
distinguish them by giving one a ‘{2}’ added to their forename.
