Past Matches against Swinton Lions

Because for much of the history of professional rugby league, Yorkshire clubs played most of their matches against other Yorkshire teams, we have played rather fewer games against Swinton despite being in the same league competition for most of the time. Fev's first ever trophy final came against Swinton in the Championship final of 1928. Although we lost 11-0 it was a great achievement to get there, finishing 3rd in the league in only our seventh season and beating Leeds, who had finished 2nd, 15-12 away in the semi-final.

The Fev team in that final was:

Sid Denton; Jim Denton, Jack Hirst, George Whittaker, G Albert Taylor; Jimmy Williams, Jim Rudd; Ernest Barraclough, Joe Hall, J W Smith, Harold Blakeley, Arthur Haigh, Joe Morgan

Much more recently, Fev have strung together a sequence of 13 successive wins against Swinton. Let's hope we make it 14!

LAST TIME (2020)

This was the last Championship fixture we were to play in 2020 before the first lockdown arrived and the season was abandoned.
