T'Other Side: London Broncos

FIRST TEAM SQUAD

LAST TIME OUT

2021 MATCHES

Head Coach: Tom Tsang

Tom Tsang became the coach of Coventry Bears in 2011 and continued when they entered League One in 2015. It is a tribute to him and the directors at Coventry that they are the only one of the four new League One teams from around that time that still exist as a semi-professional outfit.

In 2019 he became assistant coach at Broncos and when Danny Ward left in early July Tom took over in a caretaker capacity.

He never played professionally himself although he was in the Huddersfield (his hometown) Giants Academy and played for Coventry before they entered League One. In 2007 he played for the Great Britain Students team.

His career pathway has to be unique for a rugby league coach including time as an apprentice dog groomer as well as Sports Development for the RFL, British Equestrian Federation and the Eton Fives Association.

Captain: Will Lovell

Jay Pitts was the Broncos captain in 2018 and 2019 but he moved on to Wakefield Trinity and Will Lovell took over. Will was born in Northampton and he has spent his entire playing career with London Broncos, making his début in 2012. He has also played for London Skolars on dual reg in the four years 2013 - 2016.

He was primarily a second rower although he has mostly played at centre this season.

Star Man: Abbas Miski

Abbas Miski is an Australian of Lebanese descent who joined Broncos this year from Manly Sea Eagles.

A winger, he has scored 18 tries so far in Championship games putting him in 3rd place (behind Gareth Gale on 23 and Craig Hall on 21).

His prowess has attracted the attention of Super League clubs and Wigan have signed him for next year.

He has played nine times for the Lebanon international team including during the 2017 World Cup.

Loan signings

Broncos have both Chris Hankinson (Wigan) and Ed Chamberlain (Salford) on season long loans. As has become traditional 7 younger members of the Broncos squad have played for London Skolars on loan this season.

The Fev connection

There are just three pre ‘Summer Era’ Fev players who have also played for Broncos: Brett Daunt and John Crossley had played for Fulham (Broncos original name) before Fev signed them.

Neil Tuffs was signed by Fulham from Fev for their inaugural season in 1980-81.
