T'Other Side: Dewsbury Rams

FIRST TEAM SQUAD

STOP PRESS: Since producing the above Dewsbury have made two new signings. Dom Speakman, a good hooker who played for Dewsbury from 2016-2020, has re-joined and they have taken young Huddersfield prop, Robson Stevens, on loan from Huddersfield Giants.

New Signings for 2021

Head Coach: Lee Greenwood

Lee Greenwood took over as Dewsbury Rams head coach for the 2019 season following the resignation of Neil Kelly at the end of previous season. In the community game he has coached Siddal ARL and he was coach of Gloucestershire All Golds during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

During his playing career he played mainly on the wing but occasionally at centre. His started at Sheffield Eagles in 1999 and he moved to Halifax where he played from 2000 to 2003. After that he played for London Broncos, Huddersfield Giants and Leigh Centurions before returning to Halifax for two more seasons in 2007. He ended his career with one season at Oldham and his last year at Batley in 2010.

In 2004 he was picked for England in matches against Russia and Ireland.

Captain: Paul Sykes

Having begun his career with the Bradford Bulls in 1999, after two seasons Paul Sykes moved to London Broncos and stayed with them for 7 seasons. In 2008 he returned to the Bulls and then moved onto Wakefield in 2012.

After 16 seasons in the Super League he came to Featherstone Rovers in 2015 and then signed for Dewsbury Rams in 2016.

Now 39 years old (he will be 40 come August) his long career has so far given him a total of 475 appearances, 145 tries, 926 goals and 18 drop goals. That’s a total of 2,450 points. At representative level Paul has played for England, England A, Northern Union and Great Britain.

Star Man: Andy Gabriel

We could well have chosen Liam Finn for this section but as Fev supporters know Liam well we have opted for Andy Gabriel who is, so far, Dewsbury’s leading try scorer this year.

He made his début with Keighley in 2016. He moved from there to Dewsbury in 2019.

He usually plays as a winger although in 2019 he did play 3 games at fullback.

Loan signings

Earlier this season Dewsbury had Jimmy Beckett on loan from Fev and Jon Luke Kirby on loan from Huddersfield on loan from Huddersfield but both have now returned to their parent club.

Currently (as far as we know) they have Zack McComb on loan from Halifax and Sam Wood on loan from Huddersfield.

The Fev connection

If we go back before the 'Summer Era' there are many players who played for both Fev and Dewsbury but three who stand out are Allan Agar, Jeff Grayshon and Steve Hankins.
