Head
Coach (caretaker): Brendan Sheridan
Oldham parted company with former Head Coach, Matt Diskin, at
the end of June after they had only won two of their first eleven Championship
matches but the change doesn’t seem to have helped as they are still on only
two wins.
Previous assistant coach, Brendan Sheridan, has taken over for
the rest of the season in a caretaker capacity.
We know very little about Sheridan despite an extensive trawl
through our database and the internet.
We cannot find any reference to him playing for a professional
club. He has played for and coached Birstall Victoria ARL and coached Dewsbury
Celtic.
In 2020 Brendan developed serious Coronavirus and was in
hospital in a coma. We wish him well in his recovery.
The only other thing we know is that he is the brother of Ryan
Sheridan, former Fev assistant coach and current Castleford assistant coach.
Captain: Gareth
Owen
Made his début with
Salford in 2010 and played 37 games in Super League for them in 2010-2013. In
2014 he played on loan at Sheffield Eagles and then signed for Oldham in 2015.
He is a hooker and has
occasionally played at half-back when required.
Star Man: Dan Abram
Dan started with Barrow
Raiders as a hooker in 2016. In 2018 he joined Whitehaven and then Rochdale in
2019. He moved to Oldham in 2020.
Nowadays he is primarily
a fullback although he fills in as a halfback when required. He is also
Oldham’s main goal-kicker.
There is a strong family
connection with the Oldham club. Dan’s father, Darren, played for the Roughyeds
from 1992 to 1997 and also in the current Oldham squad is Jamie, Dan’s younger
brother.
Loan
signings
On August 6th young Huddersfield prop,
Fenton Rogers, came on loan to Oldham whether he is still there we don’t know.
Also currently on loan at Oldham is Featherstone halfback, Harvey Spence.
The Fev
connection
Amongst the pre ‘Summer
Era’ players who have played for both Oldham and Fev are Terry Clawson, David
Hobbs, Mick Morgan, Terry Ramshaw and Iva Ropati.
