T'Other Side: Dewsbury Rams

FIRST TEAM SQUAD

LAST TIME OUT

2021 MATCHES

Head Coach: Lee Greenwood

Lee Greenwood took over as Dewsbury Rams head coach for the 2019 season following the resignation of Neil Kelly at the end of previous season. In the community game he has coached Siddal ARL and he was coach of Gloucestershire All Golds during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

During his playing career he played mainly on the wing but occasionally at centre. He started at Sheffield Eagles in 1999 and he moved to Halifax where he played from 2000 to 2003. After that he played for London Broncos, Huddersfield Giants and Leigh Centurions before returning to Halifax for two more seasons in 2007. He ended his career with one season at Oldham and his last year at Batley in 2010.

In 2004 he played for England in matches against Russia and Ireland.

Captain: Paul Sykes

Having begun his career with the Bradford Bulls in 1999, after two seasons Paul Sykes moved to London Broncos and stayed with them for 7 seasons. In 2008 he returned to the Bulls and then moved onto Wakefield in 2012.

After 16 seasons in the Super League he came to Featherstone Rovers in 2015 and then signed for Dewsbury Rams in 2016.

On 11th August Paul Sykes celebrated his 40th birthday and during his long career has so far made a total of 480 appearances, 145 tries, 939 goals and 18 drop goals. That’s a total of 2,476 points. At representative level Paul has played for England, England A, Northern Union and Great Britain.

Star Man: Tom Garratt

Signed from Siddal ARL at the beginning of the 2019 season, Tom Garratt has made a big impact. The prop has been so impressive in his short time in the Championship that he has been signed up by Hull Kingston Rovers for next season.

League Express named him as the Dewsbury Man of the Match when Fev played the Rams in June.

Loan signings

As far as we can see Dewsbury currently have three players on loan. Jimmy Beckett and Dale Ferguson from Fev and Riley Dean (halfback) from Warrington.

Jimmy Beckett is on his third loan spell at Dewsbury in 2021. Riley Dean has also been on loan with York and played for them against Fev in May.

The Fev connection

There are some notable Fev players from before the Summer Era who have played for both Fev and Dewsbury. They include, Allan Agar, Jeff Grayshon and Steve Hankins.
