FIRST TEAM SQUAD

THIS SEASON'S MATCHES

Head Coach: Liam Finn

When Lee Greenwood left his position as head coach at Dewsbury Rams in June, Paul Sykes acted as caretaker head coach for two weeks before the club brought in Liam Finn for his first head coach position. He had previously been assistant coach at Halifax.

As a player, Liam needs no introduction to Fev fans having been our excellent scrum half during the run from 2010 to 2013 which saw us finish top of the Championship table four seasons in a row.

His playing career began with Halifax in 2002. He moved to Wakefield in 2004. The following year he came on loan to Rovers. He signed for Dewsbury in 2006 and then moved to Fev in 2010. For 2014 and 2015 he was at Cas and then back at Wakefield from 2016 to 2018 and spent time on loan at Widnes in 2018. In 2019 he went to Newcastle Thunder but in March re-joined Dewsbury where he stayed until he retired in 2021.

Liam played 30 times for Ireland and he holds the joint world record for successive, successful kicks at goal finishing his run on 41 whilst playing for Fev.

Captain: Michael Knowles

Michael Knowles began his professional career in 2005 with Castleford Tigers. In 2007 he moved to Gateshead Thunder and then joined Barrow Raiders in 2010.

From 2012 to 2016 he was with Sheffield Eagles and the joined Fev in 2017. In July that year he was transferred to Dewsbury. Where he has been ever since.

He is most often plays in the second row but can also play loose forward or in the halves. Although he is not usually first choice, he is, nevertheless, a useful standby goal kicker and in 2009 he kicked over 100 goals for Gateshead.

Dual Reg and Loan signings

In 2022 Dewsbury signed dual registration agreements with Hull Kingston Rovers and North Wales Crusaders.

Currently on loan at Dewsbury are Bayley Gill and Jamie Mathiou from Fev and Jon Luke Kirby and Robson Stevens from Huddersfield.

The Fev connection

Amongst the  Featherstone players from before the Summer Era who also played for Dewsbury are Jeff Grayshon and Luke Morgan

Jeff Grayshon needs no introduction but Luke Morgan is probably less well known nowadays. He played for Fev from 1930 to 1934. He was one of four brothers to play for Rovers and on three occasions Luke, Joe and Tommy played together in the same match. Luke began the 1934-35 season as Featherstone's captain but then he was transferred in mid-season to Dewsbury and was immediately appointed as the Dewsbury captain. There can't be many players who have been the club captain for two different teams in the same season!
