A fevnut special: Down Memory Lane (2018)

A few days ago, in response to this week’s ‘musings’, our excellent match video person, Jamie Hobbs, asked us when Luke Cooper kicked his other goal. We thought it was 2018 but thought we had better check.

When we looked at the 2018 data to confirm we were intrigued to see how many players (some have become much more notable) played for us  that year. It gave us the idea to do the occasional ‘special’ and post an occasional ‘Down Memory Lane’ and the first one is indeed for 2018.

2018 was a strange season. We narrowly missed out on making it to the Qualifiers and had to play in the Championship Shield. We got to the final after winning all our Championship Shield matches and had to play Leigh but both teams had huge difficulties in having a fit squad for the final and the RFL gave a special dispensation to both clubs to bring in one-off loans to play in the final. As a result there were 10 players making débuts, 3 for Fev and 7 for Leigh.

Fev ended the season with 9 wins in a row.

It was also the season when Luke Briscoe equalled an 'All Time' British record by scoring a try in each of 17 successive matches. In June he was signed by Leeds Rhinos but then came back to Fev on dual reg.
