Rugby League

There are only a few Fev matches played on May 11th. Up until 1996 (before the Summer Era) it was most often after the season end. However, we did play against Hunslet in 1940 in what was then the Wartime Emergency League Yorkshire Division. The match was played at Parkside (Hunslet) and Rovers won 20-8.

Saturday May 11th 1974 was the Challenge Cup final when Rovers got to Wembley for the second year running. Having been successful the previous year this time they were the losers, Warrington winning 24-9.

The most recent match was in 2014 when Fev went to the appalling Owlerton Stadium for a Championship match and won 36-22 with tries from Ben Hellewell (2), Greg Worthington, Matt James, James Me3ndeika and Kyle Briggs. Kyle also kicked 6 goals. League Express named Andy Ellis as man of the match.
